Teenagers and young adults are experiencing much higher levels of stress and anxiety relating to social media, struggles with sexuality and acceptance. There are the pressures placed on them by schools, parents and then there are the thoughts about everything they are doing now is not going to be good enough because there will always be someone better that comes along after. Teenagers just simply can’t be teenagers, they have to be more mindful of how they spend their time and who they associate with because they are always being watched. With social media offering a new platform for cyberbullying but also the increased fear of missing out, it can be a bit of a love hate relationship to say the least.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, we teach and show teenagers and young adults how to work better to understand themselves, their emotions and how to build their self esteem, confidence and self worth and become more comfortable with who they are, resulting in increased resilience and less harmful stress responses and behaviours.

After seeing therapists and going to group and 1:1 CBT, I thought that the way I was feeling was how I was always going to feel and that no one would be able to help me get back to my old self. I was very emotional and would cry whenever I thought about my situation.
